An Ideal Leader.

As an expansive species, it is easy to overhear others intentions for good in this life, but not many truly become motivated enough to achieve and conclude what they strongly believe should transpire within this world. One man has become an ideal example of an individual who has acted beyond sole opinions and has done a prodigious act; Jose Mujica the president of Uruguay has kept himself within a lower social standard to better impact his people.

At the ripe age of 77, Mujica was elected in 2009 of the second smallest nation in south america; however the riches that follow with a presidential life was of no interest to this palpable man, he had better things to do.

Ingloriously living within a farmhouse with his wife, Mujica has donated 90% of his salary to charities and lives his life completely satisfied, assured that he does not need more than the $1,250 of $12,500 he keeps to maintain and appreciate a modest life.

“I do fine with that amount; I have to do fine because there are many Uruguayans who live with much less,” Jose told the paper. He keeps his focus on guiding and providing aid for the poor and supporting entrepreneurs. Thinking and acting beyond temporary pleasures by consumer-driven living, this mans heart goes out to all of his people, knowing that an outstanding way to help the people is to provide the change that can better the standard of living.

“This is a matter of freedom,” he told BBC News. “If you don’t have many professions then you don’t need to work all your life like a slave to sustain them, and therefore you have more time for yourself.” Mujica’s passionate examples for change isn't limited to what he shares with those around him; instead, he’s also anticipating a change by impressing his altruistic ideology to other world leaders.

His doctrine on poverty and consumer expenditure was contributed at the Rio +20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in June. “If all I’m doing is working to buy things to get more, if society of consumption is the energy of everything, where does this go?” he asked. “We need to start to fight for another kind of culture.”

Mujica has openly implicated that other world leaders possess a “blind obsession to achieve growth in consumption”, the president is undoubtedly in opposition to this left-brained obsession of presidential riches with no regards to the working people beneath it all. His argument draws in environmental factors and respect from societies that are governed by its many leaders.

His ‘poor’ lifestyle has gained criticism to which Jose defended with a conscious remark, “I’m called ‘the poorest president’, but I don’t feel poor. Poor people are those who only work to try to keep an expensive lifestyle, and always want more and more”.

Thanks to Jose’s influential leadership, Uruguay is now considered a nation of gracious change; becoming one of the first nations to legalize Marijuana and a nation that is determined to ensure that all of its people are taken care of, many more positive changes are sure to be implemented.

In Jose Mujica’s logic, as a society can we reach out to our governments and ask them to slowly but surely follow Jose’s lead? Can you achieve your own selfless intentions and make a  difference in your community?

A cure for cancer? Perhaps.

Consumed around the world in food and beverages, ginger has potent medicinal properties that are increasingly studied  for its efficiency to eradicate cancer in many medical facilities. Ingesting this rhizome is not only good for its ability to reduce inflammation nor its antioxidants; but it also better improves your cardiovascular health and eliminate strains of Helicobacter pylori ( Primary causes of stomach ulcers) and if you're pregnant, it definitely helps with the nausea. Suffocating among the dead.

To an inspector's dismay over 1600 animals were found tightly packed in crates in a south african airport earlier today. The smell had caught the inspectors attention and he immediately opened it to discover hundreds upon hundreds of reptiles and amphibians crammed into small containers with other species. One third of the animals were found dead and decomposing, crates and boxes included  vulnerable, endangered, critically endangered species. Many are in critical state but are slowly but surely stabilizing, some may not recover.

It is believed that the animals are supplied from Madagascar; a country that is well known for its diverse multitude of wildlife and was destined to arrive at the united states. It is believed that the animals were predestined to be sold in exotic pet markets. It is being determined whether or not this it animal cruelty, however it should not difficult to conclude.

Animal cruelty is an appalling reality in our world. We have a duty to protect innocent beings, and this should not be limited to our people. Many animals could not turn around  in these containers, nor were they given food or water for their journey. These animals were left for five days in conditions that had taken the lives of many due to cannibalism, organ failure, dehydration and skin infections from the decomposing animals beneath them.

Safety cannot be sold.

An innovative article of clothing is presumably one of the most liberating article of clothing that any woman will feel safe in; the anti-rape undergarment. Not only will this ensure young vulnerable ladies will not be at risk for potential rape however to what degree is this really liberating?

The garment is made out of a strong material that is resistant to cutting and pulling, it is built in such a way it can not be pulled off without the consent of the wearer nor can it be pulled or moved in the thigh area to gain “easy” access. It locks like a chastity belt with over 1,000 different combinations, this garment is comfortable, adjustable and obviously a great choice for those living in statistically high-rape countries.The garment has been created to give the victim more control of the situation; but since when was this in the control of the victim?

Anti-rape wear is a depressing reminder to all, that no matter in whatever situation the victim, may it be your mother, your sister or your daughter is responsible for the attack. One in thirty rape victims actually see their attacker prosecuted and in a world where men are blindly convicted as not guilty it is only a matter of time until we have to hide away and become unseen in the public eye. Anyone can be a victim; Men, children, trans-gender and handicapped persons are also vulnerable. The entire population should at this point be anxious.

Anti-rape underwear is great, but it is only a temporary solution to a drastic pandemic. We must push and fight for rape-culture to be abolished; for the true liberation of our people. We will not be free until a mother has no worry of her child having their innocence taken away.
